Northern Lights: How to catch this natural wonder in Canada
The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, is one of the most spectacular natural phenomena that can be seen in Canada. This phenomenon occurs when charged solar wind particles interact with the Earth's magnetic field, creating incredible light shows in the night sky. The northern lights are best observed in northern regions of Canada such as the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunnavut. The time of year when the chances of seeing the aurora borealis are highest is during the winter months, December through March, when the nights are long and clear.
One of the best places to see the northern lights is the town of Whitehorse in the Yukon. With its remote location and minimal light pollution, this town offers ideal conditions for observing the lights. Other popular locations include North West Territories and the Icelandic province of Nunavut, where tourists can rent special tours to watch the aurora borealis. It can also be interesting to go to the taiga or open spaces, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, to better perceive this splendor of nature.
